Passion & Purpose

What’s the connection between your passion and your purpose?

There’s an instructive video where Rich Dad Poor Dad author Robert Kiyosaki explains the difference between passion and purpose.

He says that passion is greedy and “doing what you love” is not the way to look at business-building.

Because sometimes you have to do what you hate.

He gives the example of writing books and tells the audience that he hates writing books, but he does it because it fills his purpose in life.

He says Passion is greedy and Purpose is for serving other people.

“My purpose in being a business-owner is so that I can serve more people” (I’m paraphrasing)

I love this point of view, but I’m not sure I agree that passion is greedy.

I think we are given passion as a catalyst to fulfill our purpose.

Passion is a road sign, a GPS coordinate, a navigation tool to help direct us to HOW we will fill our purpose.

Will you fulfill your purpose as an engineer, a teacher, a doctor, a banker or an architect?

If you pay attention to your passion, this can guide you to your purpose.

At GoGlobal we see passionate people daily who are building the future on the platform of technology - addressing global challenges with solutions that scale.

Solutions in the areas of EduTech, HealthTech, ClimateTech, AgriTech, MarTech, FinTech - you name it, we see it.

I see them fulfilling a purpose - having the courage to step forward, take risks, be criticized, step into the unknown - all to help build a better future.

They are fulfilling a purpose. They are serving us with their solutions. And they are doing it with passion.

And for this I am so grateful for their efforts and I feel lucky to get a front row seat.
